Quick Start Guide
Prerequisites for using our service
To be suitable for our service you should currently have control over your own mailserver(s), and have control over your DNS records.
This means that if you're currently using a webmail service such as Googlemail, Hotmail, or Yahoo you cannot use our service.
How our service works
If you currently host your own mailserver then you will already know how it work - when a mail is sent to an address at your domain the following things happen:
- 1. The sender's mailserver will lookup the MX record in DNS for your domain.
- This will tell the server where the mail should be delivered.
- 2. The mailserver connects to yours, and send the mail.
We offer our server as a proxy for yours. This means that the incoming mail is no longer sent directly to your mailserver, instead it is sent to ours. We will filter the the incoming mail.
All mail which passes the checks that you've defined will then be forwarded to your real mailserver, and all failing mail will be rejected.
(The rejected mail is safely archived away in a quarantine area.)
Using Our Service
To start using our service then you must do two things:
- Create Your Account
Create an account for yourself and then add your domain(s) to our system.
This will ensure that we're able to process mail upon your behalf.
- Update Your MX Records
Once you've added your domains to your account you should then update the MX records for each domain, so that we receive your email.
